It's always interesting to me when I see what articles bring people to this site. Some of our most popular posts are about our bedroom upgrade , especially our tutorial where we detail how we turned our IKEA KURA loft bed into a bunk bed over a trundle as well as our DIY Trundle how-to . What's surprising to me, though, is just how much traffic we get from this post: Chaos . It's mostly a post about all of the stressful things going on in my life last May, so I was stumped at first about all the Pinterest hits we have gotten from it. How to Add a Trundle to an IKEA KURA Bed: Attaching the Beds

This post is part of a tutorial on turning an IKEA KURA loft bed into a bunk bed over a trundle. For the other pages in this series, go to the Introduction and Disclaimer , the Parts List , Prepping the Wood , Part 1 of Assembly , Part 2 of Assembly , and Cross Bracing . It's time to attach your bed base to your IKEA KURA loft bed. This is not a one-man job. You will probably need at least three people: two to lift the KURA and one to slide the bed base in underneath. Once you get this done, the rest is pretty easy. Step One: Lining Up the Beds Set the KURA down on top of the bed base. The open side should face toward the center of the room. Make sure that you line everything up so that the KURA is sitting directly on the bed you constructed. If you measured and cut everything correctly, it should all match up just about perfectly. If you haven't noticed, it's been pretty quiet here at the Small Home Family blog over the past week, and there's a good reason for that. We've been working hard on our bed conversion tutorial, and we're excited to finally share it with you this week! We were given an IKEA KURA loft bed by my cousin when her family moved a few months ago, and we spent weeks planning and buying parts and cutting and sanding and painting and building in order to turn our bedroom into our four-year-old daughter's dream kid's room . I documented the process so that we could share it here on the blog. I used several ideas that I found online when designing this bed. This trundle conversion posted on IKEA Hackers was a big inspiration for the idea overall, and I also consulted this KURA drawers conversion over on Tales of Fruit and Cake.
